The Watching Windows
Marly had come to towering Regent Manor, as private nurse to the elegant Mrs. Regent, with hopes of finding the home she did not have. But from the start she was besieged by troubles. First, she found it necessary to enter the Manor by scaling its iron gates, and was greeted at the door by a disapproving housekeeper who treated Marly as a trespasser. Then, there was Annette, the fawn-like child who appeared in Marly's room one night, trembling with fear and hunger--and whose identity was kept a dark secret. Even Marly's responsibilities seemed strange--not those of a highly trained nurse, but rather of a cultural companion to Mrs. Regent.

Why had Marly's handsome boyfriend, Charles Christian, warned her not to accept the position? ... and why was attractive, tawny-eyed Michael Davidson so anxious she remain? Though plagued with doubts about both her job and her feelings, Marly was determined to follow through--for better or worse....

Hero: Michael Davidson
