In the land of time and Queens, one young woman sought not greed, but justice! Satchel & Sword I: The Search for The Saluka Stone is part one of a Young Adult Epic Fantasy trilogy chronicling the struggles and perseverance of Nevaline Scarcliff, a 15-year-old foot soldier living in the militarist, matriarchal territory of Amazonia. The greedy Amazonian Queen forces her army to march north to fight against Amazonia's rival territory: Hychester. They must march through the bewitched Blackbern Forest in order to conceal their attack. There, Nevaline and her best friend Cairine wield their Claymores in perilous battles against mercenaries, thieving Harpies, giant, human-eating Pophagi, enemy soldiers, and a group of malevolent sorcerers called the Sables. Nevaline also discovers her true destiny: she must destroy Micdian, the God of Verahain (Purgatory), who descended to earth to enslave all in the continent of Kordalis and the northern islands of the Caátlach Ocean. She must retrieve the Saluka Stone and use it to awaken him and destroy him. Will she recover the Saluka Stone? Will she claim justice and destroy Micdian?

The UNDERDOGS: Spotlighting some of the world's ancient societies.
In my books I have used three distinct cultures and their respective countries' landscapes as backdrops for specific territories and islands in the story. The country most prevalent in the books is SCOTLAND. I use its landscape as the backdrop for most of the Kordalis continent and most of the islands north of Kordalis in the Caátlach Ocean. I use certain aspects of its culture as details in the book like the sword Nevaline and the army uses is the Scottish CLAYMORE. In the second book, I utilize the MEXICA culture in Mexico (the Aztecs) along with Tenochtitlán's lowland hot climate and dry landscape. Finally, in the third book, I utilize aspects of the MONGOLIAN culture and its country's landscape.

Why SCOTLAND
In all three books, I utilize the landscape and some cultural aspects of Scotland as it was in the 14th century.
SCOTLAND has had a rich and tumultuous history. Its lands have seen many stomp upon its lush green meadows, the desolate, rolling hills of the moorlands, and the delicate, pure landscape of the CALEDONIAN FOREST. But as much as invaders and conquerors have stunted SCOTLAND's growth, heroines, heroes, and proud warriors have given its culture and traditions the respect it so deserves today.
