The Hidden Mine — Joseph Altsheler

Our story begins in San Francisco, and our characters quickly succumb to gold fever when told about a gold mine by a man named Pedro. Pedro claims to have discovered a rich supply of gold and needs help to go and get it.



Unfortunately, a pirate named Halftrigger and his band also learn about the mine from Pedro. The two groups of men are immediately engaged in conflict as they begin to search for Pedro's hidden mine.



The entire story is about the life-and-death struggle to get the gold and keep it.
