The Directs — J. Lawrence Davis

Cloaks, the masters of magic, distinguished by the colors of their cloaks. The Reds, who draw through emotions; the Illusionists, who draw through knowledge; the Directs, who draw straight from magic; the Thasos, who draw through plants and animals; the Healers, who draw through human beings; and the Royals, who rule the kingdoms of Mantau. All cloaks, divided by their philosophies, must work together as a new threat emerges.

Kylis Lawson and his team finally head to the front lines to fight against the Fuerzan army. With his knights once more under his command and Prince Raymond orchestrating a new plan to defeat the invading enemy, Kylis is anxious to help stop the Fuerzans.

The Fuerzans are led by General Norina, the orange cloak Direct suspected of using her magic to manipulate and control members of the royal families of the continent. She is proving to be a more formidable opponent than anyone suspected, with her strategies always outmaneuvering the Rhinians.

With the truth behind the war now closer than ever, Kylis and his team work with the Rhinians to find a way to capture and question the Fuerzan general. Old and new faces meet and battle it out to achieve their goals for their kings, but will Kylis be able to detain General Norina and learn the truth, or will the Fuerzans maintain their advantage and defeat the Rhinians?
