Because Andrea had grown up in an orphanage, she felt a special sympathy for the lonely, the sick and the destitute. At a settlement house in the city's worst slum area, Andrea found new work and a new sense of fulfillment.

When, in appreciation of her devoted care, a former patient left Andrea some property, she decided to restore the building and to find suitable occupants for it.

Dr. Steve Jordan was one of the first of the new tenants, and through him, Andrea again met her former foe -- the doctor who had cost her the hospital job. The stage was now set for another clash between the successful surgeon and the dedicated young settlement nurse.
