Part I – The OutlawThe beginning of the Hundred Years' War. The young Count Theodor de Bongrais doesn't want to submit to the British who are rapidly conquering France and intends to put up an active resistance. He is betrayed and handed over to his enemies by the administrator of his castle, Don Pauline. Sentenced to death, he escapes from prison with the help of a trusted man and begins a fight with the hated enemy. In this way, he exposes himself not only to the Black Prince and his henchmen, but also to his own countrymen, who try to somehow get along with the occupier. As Theo le Vengeur, he collects a small band of outcasts by his side he wages a ruthless guerrilla warfare. His faithful followers are; Belette, a country girl with an uncommon mind, her brother Pierre, a former participant in the Jacquerie who hates the nobility, Berengard, a former castle servant, and many others who are equally committed to the cause... Part II – The RenegadeUntil now, Theo de Bongrais had come out safely from all dangers. Those who don't know him very closely even claim that he does not know the feeling of fear at all and that he has supernatural immunity. This is not true, and only Theo knows how easy it is to find out. It is getting harder and harder for him to wage his fight.King John II the Good leaves him in his will the most difficult task that the outlaw had to face so far - taking care of his stepbrother. Reluctant young people break the ice in time. Meanwhile, the Black Prince continues his efforts to hunt down the hated enemy, and the traitor, Don Paulino, is still standing by his side. The matter is complicated by the fact that the new king, Charles V the Wise, hates the young rebel and doesn't recognize the privileges granted to the count by John II. Philip of Navarra's friendship may not be enough to protect Theo from the worst... Part III – Honor Above AllIt might seem that, after so much hardship and suffering, luck finally smiled on Count de Bongrais. Charles V the Wise cleared his name and gave him back his family possessions under certain conditions. Unfortunately, it quickly turns out that total devotion to one's homeland comes at a high price.Theo must return to the forest to avoid being arrested again which could end tragically for him. This time it is much harder for him than before, because he feels responsible not only for his unruly brother, who loses the opportunity to live like a noble with him, but also for the nearly ten-year-old page he took with him from Paris. However, he decides not to give up. First of all, he wants to get his wife back, then continue the guerrilla struggle and, if possible, finally win the sympathy of his king. Meanwhile, the Black Knight, Edward Plantagenet, the eldest son of the King of England, unexpectedly changes the position in his case....
