Standing tall in the shadows of darkness with blood slowly dripping from his claws, Damon smiled to himself as he heard the words in his mind. Revenge is a dish best served cold. Vengeance is always more satisfying when it is executed in cold blood.
At last, the final members of The Assembly's guard who had killed Connor and Callidora were dead. Closing his eyes, he remembered vividly the night Shannon was placed into his arms as he swore to protect her and raise her to be queen. It was also the night he swore that every one of the attackers would die someday and that he would gut them like the animals they were as they took their last breath. He looked down at the wolves lying dead, slowly licked the blood off of his claws with a smile, and raised his arms into the night sky. “Rest well, my little sister and my brother Connor. Your deaths have been avenged. Shannon now wears your crown, Callidora, and our return to Angelis will be soon!”
Damon knew the future. After all, it was written long ago by the Fates, and it was Shannon's story of becoming the rightful queen of Angelis. But first, he knew they would have to face the strong evil that was coming soon to kill them. A powerful evil presence that they would need to destroy before moving to Angelis. The battle against The Assembly had been won, but the war on evil would always continue.
Returning to his study at the palace, Damon poured a tall scotch before he walked over to the window. Looking out into the darkness, his thoughts were still on his sister and how hard it must have been for her to see her own death years before it happened. Callidora was the most powerful clairvoyant to ever live, and she had shown Damon what his life would be. He knew his destiny. But most importantly, he also knew Shannon's destiny and the danger she would be facing now.
