Once a Stranger — Margaret Yorke

Anxious to finish his latest novel, Neil Addington rents a cottage in the quiet village of Westington. He meets Anna Harris, who is restless and unhappy, her marriage to Tom Cartwright having been postposed. Later, Anna begins to help Neil prepare his manuscript and finds that she has embarked also upon a journey to greater knowledge of herself.
