O'Leary is a useful cat to have around. After Kat Hennessey adopts him, he gets her a huge income tax refund, a stock buy that nets fifteen grand, and a boyfriend, philosophy professor Cary Rodrigo Grant. And he saves her from a would-be rapist.

How does he accomplish this? The big Burmese pussycat is psychic, because he was almost struck by lightning when he was a kitten. The near-miss frizzle gave him extraordinary powers: he can sense the future and sniff out holes into alternate realities.

Kat and Cary fall in love and marry, but disaster strikes when the professor is laid off from his University job. The Burmese lends a helpful paw and Cary is offered a plum teaching job at elite Charlesburg College in tiny Southmeadow, Minnesota.

They buy a quaint Victorian house, where O'Leary finds a crack in the basement wall that's an entrance to alternate realities. Kat is sucked into going with him, and encounters fairytale weirdos, horrible pointy-teeth rats, vampires, lunatic hot dog vendors, and panthers with very sharp claws.

Could things get any scarier? Yep. Kat hasn't met the two-headed fire-breathing Etruscan monster yet!

O'Leary, Kat and Cary Grant won an Honorable Mention in the Legacy Fiction category of the Eric Hoffer Awards.

Here is what the U.S. Review of Books said:

"This is a spellbinding tale of fantasy wrapped up in humor, romance, and adventure. Picturesque with a strong sense of being there, the journey is filled with the timeless characters and the remarkable names of Kat and Cary Grant. Add the paranormal cat of O'Leary, who seems to have more than nine lives, and all the answers are at your feet, or are they? After buying an old Victorian house, O'Leary finds a crack in the basement wall through which alternative realities pass. Suddenly O'Leary talks and Kat meows of rats, fairies, and vampires. This is a remarkable treasure of a book."

“O'Leary, Kat, and Cary Grant is a choice and very highly recommended pick for cat lovers.” " Midwest Book Review.

“A charmingly-written fantasy . . . very entertaining read. " Reader comment.

“O'Leary was inspired by a real rescue cat, our dear departed MacDougall.” " Author's comment.
