Brought up by two elderly grandparents after her parents' death, Geraldine Greene familiarized herself early with the problems of the aging. So when she went into nurse's training, it was only natural that she should specialize in geriatrics. The only trouble was: Geri's pert prettiness and laughing disposition made her seem years younger even than her own modest age: and the older patients in City Center Hospital found it impossible to believe such a child was equipped to treat them.

So Geri took drastic measures to correct the situation, by slicking back her hair an inventing a sober walk and manner for her on-duty hours.

Unfortunately, it was not as easy to step in and out of the masquerade as she had anticipated. In addition, at least one young man in whom she was interested was in the hospital, where he was destined to see the angel of mercy at her least glamorous.
