Karen Harris, aged 20, and attached to a military unit formed to combat human trafficking in the EU, because of her experience working alone, was often used in covert missions. While she would rather work as a team, she enjoyed pitting her wits against the cartels that effectively ran Europe. That was until she came up against the Kreisen cartel. Now she was facing an old adversary who had joined the cartel. This man would push Karen to the limit and with such a hold over her, she had no way out. Or did she? About 'The Early Years'The Kreisen Cartel is one of the 'early years' novels. Each book will go to answer the many questions raised about Karen's state of mind on her return from the Lebanon, and begin the long road that would determine what made her who she became. Her involvement with the Kreisen Cartel came at a time in her life she preferred to forget, except it showed just how quickly she could change her personality, from a passive easy going girl - to an extremely violent person in a matter of seconds.Such swings of mood were put down by the doctors to be the result of trauma when Karen was first abducted, and would weaken over time. Even so, the criminal cartels Karen infiltrated, had the belief they were dealing with the usual passive and frightened girl caught up in human trafficking. This could not be further from the truth, when in actual fact a far better analogy in what they were attempting to contain was an extremely unstable individual, who, given a chance, would retaliate with little regard to the consequences of her actions. Even so, there were criminals who had already faced Karen and knew exactly just how unpredictable she really could be.One such individual was a Charles Fanon. He saw value in Karen as a high class escort. Although he had no illusions that to put her to work she needed to be contained as well as controlled. Charles knew, to achieve this, required Karen to have no way out. Their personal battle would push Karen to the very edge, yet even she had no inkling to the consequences of her actions. In later years such consequences would become a recurring nightmare, pushing her on to become who she was.
