In the Name of Science — Michael Robertson
It's 2038 and the world is locked in the middle of the Second Cold War. A stalemate has held for the past fifteen years. Having created a new virus, the West are about to embark on the final stages of testing before releasing it on over half of the world's population.
Working as a lab technician for the man responsible for creating the virus, Wilfred has decided that he needs to put a stop to the testing. Stepping into the middle of chaos under the pretence of following orders, he soon realises the naivety of his plans.
With hell unfolding around him, he's left with a choice between his morals and their orders. To follow his morals will anger those in power. To follow his morals will more than likely lead to his death.
In the Name of Science won a short story competition with HarperCollins in 2012. This is an extended version of that short story.
