John Henry "Doc" Holliday, Georgia gentleman, dentist turned gambler, a consumptive whose days are numbered, follows his friend, Wyatt Earp to the boomtown of Tombstone, Arizona Territory. From the moment Holliday sets foot on the dusty Tombstone streets, his path as a lawman is set. Time and again he risks life and safety for his friends and for justice, taking on the likes of Curly Bill Brocious and Johnny Ringo, leaders of a gang of ruffians known collectively as "the Cowboys."

Doc's life is complicated by his on-again, off-again paramour, the volatile Kate Elder. Jealous and lacking in judgment, Kate brings Holliday a hairs-breadth from the hangman's knot.
While in Tombstone, Doc comes into contact with a woman from his past, the only woman he ever truly loved, but lost, Clementine Mosby.

The gunfight near the O.K. Corral is not a culmination of Doc Holliday's Tombstone adventures, not by a long shot. Virgil Earp is ambushed and Morgan Earp brutally murdered, resulting in Doc joining Wyatt on Earp's vendetta ride again his brothers' attackers.

Holliday in Tombstone brings John Henry Holliday nearly full circle as he battles his own personal demons while struggling to stay true to a friendship he values above all others.
