This is my first attempt at writing a mystery novel, and this effort is a favorite of my wife and children. I am therefore dedicating this book of mystery to my wife of sixty three years.

John Bolder is beginning to recuperate from the loss of his wife for over fifty years. Backpacking on an isolated hiking trail near the depths of the Grand Canyon, he is startled from a restful nap along the trail, by observing first hand, mankind at its worse. There is no honor shown by two young, healthy men, as they abandoned their female companion to die.

Roberts, a Arizona Highway officer, flatly told his Boss and others, “John Bolder seems to think and act like a knight in shining armor. However, do not underestimate the man because of his age. John has good instincts, and can plan far ahead. Look how he has handled the threats against the young woman left off an isolated hiking trail to die. One reason he is so successful in what he does and says is because he is just what he seems to be, a Good Samaritan.
