Dr. Parrish, Resident
Kit Constant was the lovely survivor of a wartime torpedoing and she fascinated young Dr. Parrish professionally from the moment she was brought into “emergency.” Her physical care was a relatively simple matter -- one that required only complete rest and care; her mind, however, appeared unable to recover from the shock, and she seemed to be either unable or unwilling to discuss any part of her past life. Here was a problem beyond the cure of medical science alone and it offered a challenge which proved a supreme test of the doctor's skill. As she began to respond under his tireless care, he came to realize that Kit's fascination as a woman was equal to her interest as a patient. By the time she was able to leave the hospital, they were engaged, and shortly thereafter, married.

The veil that obscured Kit's mind, however, was not completely closed away, and the cure was effected only when Dr. Parrish discovered that it was more important for a doctor to be a man than for a man to be a doctor.
