Death Rides on the Heels of Trouble — Tony Masero

For Sheriff Bo Austin it is a moment of sexual congress that starts it all.

The act may have been a feverish encounter of casual passion but even whilst he is adulterously engaged with Cally Gantz, circumstances are about to change in the sleepy farming community of Partner Springs.

Three men further down the line commit bloody murder, an act that inevitably sets off a chain reaction reaching back to the small township of immigrant German farmers.

Even as the killers ride into Partner Springs, an assassin of the first order, a man efficiently capable with a whole range of lethal weapons, is hired to carry out a brother's desire for vengeful justice.

But before the lines are down and the town closed for business, a telegram is sent. Mysteriously, it calls on the richest company in Texas to make an appearance and that brings with it a new wave of arson and vicious murder.

Cut off and under the gun, Bo Austin must reprieve a creature he had thought forgotten and bring to life again the cold blooded gunman once known as ‘Cold Hand'.

Even whilst his relationship with Cally develops, Bo is torn between fighting for the town's freedom and resolving the real reason for the invasion.
