Cowboys and Women is a series that follows the important women of the old west and how they affect the men surrounding the operation of the Davis cattle ranch. In the first book of the series, you will be introduced to the main character of this book, Daisy McKenzie. Abandoned by her mother at the age of five, she is given over to the care of Mr. and Mrs. Vernon, the caretakers of the Harpersfield orphanage. Daisy is raised for twelve years by the loving couple surrounded by children who have become the only family she knows. As the book begins Daisy discovers that it is her turn at the age of seventeen to leave the orphanage and go out into the world alone. This begins her journey to the Davis Ranch and her future with the man who will fight to keep her love. Although this book is the beginning of the series, it can stand on its own as a single book. It will be entirely up to the reader to continue to discover the depth of the characters in the series, or be satisfied to read Daisy's story as a complete novel by itself.
