The regular nurse on the cruise ship Ocean Queen was hospitalized only the night before the liner was scheduled to sail. So Laura Fraser, who had been working as a private duty nurse in one of New York's large East Side hospitals, suddenly has the opportunity to substitute for the injured nurse and have a fifteen-day semi-vacation in the sun. But accidents, illnesses and melodrama soon changed the fairy tale....

On a few hours' notice, Laura Fraser's life was changed. The regular nurse on the Ocean Queen was injured and Laura was asked to take her place, to sail immediately on a fifteen-day trip to the West Indies that -- at first -- held out the simple promise of a wonderful vacation. But Laura could not know how quickly she would become embroiled in the threatening intrigue aboard the Ocean Queen. Among its passengers was a man linked to the Mafia, a film actress, a Texas oil millionaire. All needed her care. Among the crew was the handsome ship's surgeon, who needed Laura herself. And yet the challenges to Laura's skills and heart were as nothing compared to the real terror lurking in the Ocean Queen's corridors. For someone had come on board as a murderer, and would not stop at killing again!
