Chameleon - The Children — P.A. Seasholtz

An unpredictable enemy is a dangerous enemy, but when both sides mix desperation with the conviction that they are the superior species, a final victor is uncertain. The children have chosen to take the fight to their enemies despite the reservations of their overly protective parents who preach caution, insisting that the children remain safely on Eden. However, the children have known only duress and war, the survival of the collective on Eden as precarious now as it was when the first human Chameleons reached the stars. No longer will the children remain idle and watch as their parents strive to safeguard Eden and keep the starfaring human species from extinction in an uncaring galaxy. Bold and unafraid define all the children, each of them confident in their superior intellect and unique abilities. The perceived invincibility of youth becomes reckless in the eyes of the parents as the young adults exert their independence, defining their generation free from the constraints of the previous generation. Rebellious youth is not a label the children would shun, but the wisdom of adulthood does not often come without first rebelling, an understanding across generations arriving only when the children return to the fold after learning that home and family were all that mattered. However, fighting a righteous war will not guarantee home and family survive, nor will it guarantee they meet their obligation to protect the Quarrel.
