Sam had been badly injured on the pirate ship and it had taken longer than he wanted to get back on his feet, but once he was well, he couldn't wait to get home. Since he had agreed to change places with his brother, he was happy that he could finally marry Carmen. Of course others might wonder at that, since Joe was the one that originally loved her.
