When Carla and George, (Rupert's employer) discover that Rupert is missing they start a frantic search to find him. Carla's unfortunate and tumultuous past, the sudden death of her father and her mothers long and anguishing depression, are revealed as Carla worries about Rupert's whereabouts. . Carla and George alert the police that Rupert is missing; now a pedantic police officer, Sergeant Skinner, is on the case. Sergeant Skinner and Rupert's paths had crossed some years earlier. That encounter had profound, life changing consequences for Sergeant Skinner. All Rupert wants to do is return home to Carla, and make his proposal. The General wants justice before he retires. George wants to live a life of luxury in Cyprus . Carla just wants to find Rupert. Sergeant Skinner wants to close his case. Paul White has a wonderful and unique way of bringing characters to life; you will laugh at their antics, be touched by their grief and empathise when they reveal their innermost feelings. Paul's characters are alive, they are real people, just like you and I. This is the ideal book to read while sunbathing on the beach or during a long flight, or you could just curl up on the sofa at home, with a box of chocolates, and loose yourself in 'A Most Extraordinary Day'.
