A Case of the Pecan Conspiracy — Lois Browning Bauer

A nightmare jerks Private Investigator Hillary King awake. She sits on the edge of her bed trying to recall the vision. What was it? Counting backward from ten to one, she immerses herself into an Alpha Awareness state. The vision reappears. A spacious building, a nearby grove of nut trees, a young man carrying a briefcase and he's dripping blood onto an orchard's path. She ponders this, unaware that the vision will draw her into her next case. Days later, she travels to Texas to animal sit for her Gram and husband while they are on their honeymoon. Hillary is introduced to the Hubbards, who own a pecan processing plant. They inform her that their annual audit shows a million dollars worth of pecans missing and ask her to investigate. Her investigation draws the reader into a story involving a Russian student, the "Russian Mafia," deception and finally murder. Hillary solves the case with the help of her FBI friend and the use of her ESP skills. Gram's German Shepherd, Sparky, is also instrumental in confirming their suspicions of the main antagonist.
