When the stuffed capybara that was intended to form the centrepiece of a new display goes missing, Max Falconer and his colleagues follow its trail from the museum to a conservation studio in East Lothian and then to the home of a freelance taxidermist in the Highlands, uncovering one mystery after another along the way.
